Whether you are new to Letterland, or have enjoyed teaching it for many years, we provide structured training sessions for professional development.
What We Offer
School Training
All our school sessions offer appropriate instruction for teachers using Letterland resources. Relevant teaching strategies will be modelled by our experienced Letterland Trainers who will motivate teachers to build on their existing knowledge. Teachers will need to refer to their Letterland Teacher's Guides regularly to ensure they get the most out of the session.
Initial Training
Product Specific Sessions
For teachers that are new to Letterland and would like an overview of the instructional delivery. Teachers will leave the session knowing how to deliver Letterland Strategies & Routines on a daily or weekly basis.
- Sessions: First Steps (Early Years), Next Steps (Primary)
- Sessions for English as a Second Language - Fix-it Phonics Starter & Level 1, Fix-it Phonics Level 2 & 3.
- Delivery - in-person or virtual sessions are available.
- Duration – 1 day for in-person or 4 hours (with break) for virtual sessions.
- Attendees - Max 30 participants.
Follow-up Training
After Initial Training, follow-up professional development is vital to the ensure successful implementation and fidelity to Letterland. Follow-up sessions last a full day and you can pick from the following activities (1 or 2 options can be delivered).
Observation Coaching
For teachers that are very experienced with teaching Letterland. Teachers will leave the session with an in depth knowledge of Letterland Strategies & Routines and learn about extension ideas for differentiated activities and independent work.
- Max of 6 teachers with 20-minute slots.

On-Demand Training (Online Courses)
Letterland Academy
Our self-paced, online training courses are appropriate for any educator who will be using the Letterland resources Teacher's Guides. Each course is asynchronous, which means you can log on and off multiple times to complete the course at your own pace. Courses are organised into modules that include video clips, downloads, quizzes and assignment activities including a response activity designed to give you a chance to reflect on your own instruction.
- Time to complete - 10 - 15 hours
