EAIFL characters on stage in event opening ceremony

The Emirates Airline International Festival of Literacy (EAIFL) was launched yesterday with an opening ceremony that included local students dressed as Letterland characters to spell the letters EAIFL.

They and other characters jumped out of a large paper book, making a dramatic impact. They then walked in the Grand Parade along the waterfront in a vivid celebration of literacy.

EAIFL characters in the Kids ZoneMark Wendon, Managing Director of Letterland said: “The Letterland characters make literacy leap into life for young children. In this case they leapt literally out of the page! Letterland is all about building a great foundation for literacy by having fun learning to read and write. That is why we are so delighted to be supporting EAIFL.”

There is also a special Kids Zone at the Festival Centre Canal where children can come on Friday, Saturday & Sunday to enjoy some fun Letterland activities and have their photo taken as a Letterland character. These children could be the stars of EAIFL in years to come!
